Yoga Therapy is a holistic approach to prevent or relieve illness.
Yoga Therapy doesn’t look at diseases isolated – that means, not only symptoms, but the cause of the sympton is treated. The reason for physical sicknesses can for example be mental and vice versa. Generally Yoga differentiates 5 layers of the human being (physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual and spiritual layer.) Those layers should be in balance for us to be healthy.
In a yoga therapy session we first look for the root cause of an issue, that we then balance through different practices (like postures, breath work, meditation, etc.) Important is that the patient practices at home after the session, for that we will create a practice plan together. Often a lifestyle change is necessary as well.
Yoga Therapy can be helpful in various cases (such as back pain, heart disease, hormonal imbalance, metabolic issues and many more) as a prevention or therapy.
However, important to know is that in some cases yoga therapy alone is not enough and therefore it has to be decided in each individual case, if further actions need to be taken outside of Yoga.
